Hi,

I have a user with an odd problem. When they open the screen in my application from which to upload images to their database, they get the following error:

Error message: this application failed to start because bcrypt.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem

Does ImageEn use any BCrypt functions at all?

The form they're opening has TImageEnFolderMView, TImageEnMView and a TImageEnView components.

The FolderMView is used to show contents of a folder, and they can click a button to add selected images from that into the MView list of images. Clicking on the MView component shows a preview in the ImageEnView component.

The form in question does nothing except manipulate images in the above components, so I am at a loss why I woudl get the error message.

This user is using our software on a Windows 2003 Server 32-bit & has the ielib32.dll deployed with the app (for RAW file support).

For added complexity, the machine in question is in a hospital and as such we have little or no control over the O/S implementation.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

Cheers

Thanks Nigel.

I'll do that.

The customer had decommissioned the Windows 2003 Server & wasn't keen on powering it back up just to test the fix. :)

No problems reported anywhere else either :)

Hi

Note: This is supported in ImageEn 8.6.0.

Open ie.inc and undefine "IEIncludeHashing" then recompile the ImageEn packages.

Hi Nigel,

The issue is at a customers site & the IT guy is on hols. I probably won't be able to get them to do anything until after Easter now.

I'll let you know what happens,

Thanks

Stu

Hi Stuart

Did the update fix the issue?

Hi Nigel,

As an update. I did some digging and bcrypt.dll isn't available in Windows XP as standard and I'm pretty sure not in Win 2003 Server.

I realise that these O/S's are well past their end of life, but (sadly) the UK NHS still has these boxes lying around that they insist on installing my software onto.

Thanks

Hi Stuart

BCrypt is used by ImageEn for hashing. The DLL should be available on all versions of Windows including 2003. However you can disable it in ie.inc. Email me for an update that supports this.
