Hi Nigel,
i use Imageen 10.0 with Delphi XE5.

I have test with ImageEnView1.LayersNewLayerDialog( ielkShape );
Then comimg this error, and not the dialog ?

procedure Tfmain.btnAddClick(Sender: TObject);
begin
// for testing
ImageEnView1.LayersNewLayerDialog( ielkShape );
// ImageEnView1.LayersAdd( TIELayerKind( cmbAddLayer.ItemIndex ));
if ImageEnView1.CurrentLayer.Kind = ielkImage then
TIEImageLayer( ImageEnView1.CurrentLayer ).ExecuteOpenDialog();
ImageEnView1.CurrentLayer.Width := 100;
ImageEnView1.CurrentLayer.Height := 100;
RefreshControls();
end;

Hi Klaus

This is an issue in 10.0.0. What version of Delphi are you using?
