Nice! At the moment we are using an expensive library to scan barcodes (all kinds of 1d + datamatrix and pdf417) and if there are other scanners out there we are interested.

I know its the first release, but can you tell us how good the recoqnition is (any binary demo for instance so we can compare ourselves)?

What to expect in the (near) future (datamatrix, pdf417 and others)?

Thank you,
Marius

That is alright Nigel, I might be good sale point to make clear that imageen barcode solution is an fact an incorparated opensource solution and not something directly from your company.

Marius

Hi Marius

Sorry to hear of your disappointment with the barcode support in IEVision. It is built with ZBar, one of the most popular open source barcode libraries available.

I evaluated this barcode recoqnition for the third time and again i'm very disapointed about it. Together with the limited amount of barcode symbologies like 2d and pdf417 and others this is far from a professional solution.

My opinion would be unless it shows great promise for future releases i would ditch this solution as quick as possible as it fails miserably in several real-world cases.

Hi

Unfortunately barcode support is provided via an open-source library so we are only able to support what is available with that library.

Thanks for the free demo provided. But how long will the PDF-417 reading feature be added?

Let me rephrase

-How good is the 1d recoqnition compared to other engines?
-Are there plans for supporting 2d/pdf417? (because without these this support is not interesting enough for us to buy and switch)

Greetings,
Marius
