Hi Nigel

I can't stand the Windows 11 start folder.
I managed so much better with the one in Windows 10.
The problem I have is that I have hundreds of programs with poor 48x48 icons that look rather similar!

This may be a hare brain idea but I thought if could use an ImageEnMView component in which you could freely position the program icons to form common group of applications along with their name - ala the Windows 10 start menu.

I've looked at your drag and drop demos to get the idea, but what I want is something like a 12x12 grid of empty images rather, than a dynamic array of images that you add bmp's too, and in which I can position a program anywhere within that grid.

I suppose my question is, what's the best way of going about it, do I just fill the grid with 144 blank images and then drag and drop my program icons around, adding & swapping the images as I go along, or is there a better solution?

Bruce.

Hi Bruce

I'm not sure precisely what method you're looking to fill the image content here, but you might be better just filling the grid with as many icons as you need and drawing them dynamically based on your own rules:

e.g. using:

Or just a paint event:
