When I scan an A5 or smaller page on the sheet feeder with my program set to A4, the missing part of the A4 page is filled with a Black Background. On old version of ImageEn, the missing part of the page would be filled with a White Background.
NOTE: This will only happen when an expected scan area is not sent by the scanner, so Sheet Feeder Only. I can not change to A5 to do the scan, because sometimes A4 and A5 or even DL go through together and I always want the end Digital Sheet size to be A4 regardless of the Source size.

On the "glass flat-bed", the scanner runs from top to bottom. If there is no paper in part of the scanning area, it will just scan the backing plate which is white, so there is no issue. When using the "sheet feeder" and the paper is shorter (A5) than expected (A4), the digital page in my program is black.
Your assistance with resolving this would be much appreciated. |

MS Paint on our systems only use WIA not Twain. At any rate, it still gives us black borders (under Windows 7 and Windows 10), so I'm not sure why you are seeing differently:
The Brother CC4 does give a white background in our testing, but it is using a custom interface, rather than Twain.
You can replicate this using:
ImageEnView.IO.TwainParams.VisibleDialog := False;
ImageEnView.IO.Acquire();
Which does remove the white border in ImageEn (in our tests).
As we cannot see any way to remove the black border in Twain, we believe it is the scanner or the scanner software that controls it. It's possible that some software flood fills the black area. You could try doing that, but it could be risky (i.e. fill an area that is supposed to be black).

Yes. Other scanner software (MS Paint or Brother CC4) does not place black on the page. It put's white there. |

Thanks, we'll take a look at your file shortly.
BTW, we tested this other day. One of our test scanners returns a black background for out-of-bounds areas. We get the same result with the standard scanning software, and also with ImageEn v5.0.0.
As far as we can determine, this is not a way to override the background that the scanner assigns to these areas. If you have information suggesting otherwise, please advise.
