Hello,

In newer version of IE we have got quite a few different types of layers like for example: Image Layer, Shape Layer, Text layer, etc. And this is making our lives as developers easier.

But I have a need to define/create a Fill Layers which could be Solid, Gradient, Texture, etc.

How can I do this?

TIA

Hi Yogi

Yes, it would be good to be able to mark a shape as a layer, so it could be editable. At present, you need to convert a shape layer to an image layer to use it as a mask.

This is shown in the demo:

demos\LayerEditing\LayerMask\LayerMask.dpr

I'll look at this for a coming version.

Hello Nigel,

At this time, texture fills are not supported but I have added it to the to-do list.

Thanks for this. Hope to see this added to upcoming update.

But in case of Shape Layer we have to have a shape. Without shape I will not be able to fill a layer with color. And the color will be shown only as per the shape and cannot exist outside the shape.

On second thought you can add a new feature of Vector Mask based on the same working ideology of Shape layer! What you may have to work is to give a way by which a user can interactively edit a shape (or call it path).

Actually what I want to achieve is on layer.

For this what you can do is allow a use to define a Layer Type which is custom and this layer should behave just like Owner Drawn feature provided in many standard VLC controls like Grid.

TIA

Hi Yogi

A TIEShapeLayer can already by filled by solid or gradient colors. At this time, texture fills are not supported but I have added it to the to-do list.
