We have now released a beta version of ImageEn/FireMonkey. At this time, only Windows targets are supported. Other platforms are planned.
It is a direct port of our VCL version, but does NOT include:
- ImageEn open/save dialogs
- Built-in image effects dialog (TImageEnProc.DoPreviews)
- Built-in image I/O properties dialog (TImageEnIO.DoPreviews)
- Layer Properties dialog
- Printing and Print Preview dialogs
Any Windows Features
- Windows shell components and features (such as video thumbnails)
- WIC file formats and features
- Rich formatting for text layers
- AVI and Meta-File support
- Image Acquisition (Twain, WIA, WPD)
- Video Acquisition (DirectShow, MMF)
- Support for plug-ins like ImageMagick and WpViewPDF
- Legacy components: TImageEnVect, THSVBox and TGradientBox
Naturally being a beta, it will have bugs and incompatibilities. Beta testers are expected to test and report issues.
The beta is open to anyone with an active ImageEn license (as it includes all ImageEn source code). Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org to join the beta.

ImageEn/FMX Beta FAQ
OK, so there have been a lot of questions about ImageEn/FMX...
Q. When will a non-beta version be released?
A. An official version will be released when we are satisfied it is sufficiently functional and reliable. Because of the amount of work to be done, we anticipate a long beta period. In particular, adding support for non-Windows platforms will be significant amount of work.
Q. What will it cost?
A. TBD. Probably 1/2 to 3/4 of ImageEn/VCL once it is ready
Q. Will it be a separate license from ImageEn?
A. Most likely. Having separate licenses allows us to gauge usage of each version and allocate our limited time appropriately. But, like now, we'll let users cheaply transition between different platforms.
Of course, it will be free to all contributing beta testers.
Q. My license for ImageEn has expired, can I still try the beta?
A. The FireMonkey beta includes the source code for ImageEn/VCL, so we'd prefer users with a current license. But if your license has recently expired, or you are a long-time user, just email me.
If you no longer use ImageEn/VCL, you can transition your license to ImageEn/FMX >>>here<<<
Q. I don't own an ImageEn license, can I still try the beta?
A. As mentioned above, the beta includes ImageEn/VCL source code (though not easily compileable), so we'd prefer not to have non-ImageEn users. Please email us with your request, or buy an ImageEn/FMX Beta Access (from >>>here<<<), which can be credited toward any future license purchase.
