No, ImageEn needs to treat the image as color when printing annotations.

There are no memory errors when printing without annotations.

I do this, but when printing large black and white images with color annotations (which open without problems), I often get an "out of memory" message.

It's like when you print, you're converting black and white images to color (just like annotations).

Can I print black and white images and color annotations without converting the black and white image to color?

You can just enable the PrintAnnotations parameter when printing:
