I wish to process thousands of images and detect those that have the best/worst focus, and those that might be under and over exposed. The images are all very similar, portraits shot against a similar background.
For focus, I have already written code that calculates the standard deviation values across that part of the image that should be the subject's face, then comparing across all images. Has anybody developed anything better for detecting focus levels?
For exposure, I am measuring the average brightness in that area of the image that should only be background, then comparing across all images and highlighting the lightest and darkest. Again, has anybody developed anything that might work better?
