There seems to be a reproducible Bug in TIEResourceExtractor:

When loading certain EXE files, an AV occurs. This can be reproduced in the demo projects using TIEResourceExtractor:

\ImageEn\Demos\InputOutput\ResourceLoader
\ImageEn\Demos\FullApps\ResourceExtractor

You can download such an example of a program causing the AV from here:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/download_speed_tester.html

Download this file from this page:

Download DownTester.zip - Without installation

This file can be downloaded from this URL:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/downtester.zip

The EXE file is: DownTester.exe

The MD5 of this EXE file is: 4DEEFA52A7AADBAB2DB3288B23826EF5

Please fix this bug ASAP or show me a way to avoid it. Thank you!

Nigel, maybe there are two separate problems with these two mentioned EXE files: While the DownTester.exe produces an AV in TIEResourceExtractor, the AddACaption.exe seems to be coming in an endless loop, maybe also because of a high number of resource subitems falsely detected in AddACaption.exe.

I need TIEResourceExtractor in a current project. So I would be thankful if you could tell me any results in the nearest time. Thank you!

Hi

This EXE has been compressed and encrypted with an EXE-Packer so ImageEn cannot get to the resources. We have make it more robustly fail with these types of EXE files in the latest beta.
