I've been using the WPViewPDF MakeImage plug-in successfully for over 6 months with a wide variety of PDF files, scanned by various scanner software, created by various PDF printer drivers, and scanned by ImageEn to PDF as well as downloaded from the internet to get a wide sampling. Now I've found a problem I can't solve. I sent a request to WPCubed a few days ago, but I think I'm spoiled by Nigel's prompt replies, so I'm going to try here too, since it might benefit other ImageEn users if we solve this:
Here is the question I sent: =============================================================== I purchased the MakeImage plug-in for ImageEn in August 2017. I wonder if there has been any upgrade since then?
The reason I ask is that I found some PDF files that are very strange to use with MakeImage and ImageEn.
One of these files is a 6 page file, Black & White, only 127kb. When it loads in ImageEn, only the first page displays. The remaining pages are blank. I have another 2 page file that does not display either page.
I was able to load the file into Adobe Reader and into Nuance PDF Converter Professional. Both display all 6 pages. Because the document contains some sensitive data, I tried to use PDF Converter to redact some data by using the Pencil tool to strike over it. The areas that I redacted now display in ImageEn, but the underlying image does not!
PDF Converter has an "Optimize" feature. When I use that feature, then ImageEn is able to display all pages of the file. It is not clear what this feature does, but the file size grew to 274kb.
The metadata says:
Application = OmniPage CSDK 18
PDF Producer = OmniPage 18
PDF version 1.6
The file does not appear to contain OCR'd text. PDF Converter pro is able to OCR both files. The files were scanned by OmniPage from bank statements.
I wonder if OmniPage 18 produces an unusual PDF file that MakeImage can not process? Or, is there a recommended method of using MakeImage in ImageEn that will give the best compatibility? =============================================================== Now I can add further info: * I have successfully loaded the problem files in Edge and Photoshop Elements 15. * I tried the WPCubed demo program and it successfully loaded the files. I suspect it is using the full version of WPCubed4 however. * I have now tried the new LoadFromFilePDF with and without specifying a page size. No luck. * I have tried loading these files at DPI from 50 to 400. No luck. * I have reviewed the owner's instruction manual for using OmniPage to scan these documents and can find nothing, so far, about any black and white image compression, so I assume it is the default value, if any. I just reviewed the actual OmniPage 18 User Guide and it only refers to PDF MRC compression and there seems no reason to believe that was used. * The owner's instruction manual calls for OmniPage to save searchable PDF files. I wonder if the plug-in is not fully compatible with searchable PDF files?
Unfortunately I have not received permission yet from the owner of these files to send them to you or WPCubed for analysis. Once I get that permission, I will be happy to do so.

Good news! It turns out the WPCubed forum does not send an email notification. When I logged in there was an answer (so that makes them as responsive and helpful as Nigel): ============================================ Please make sure to download the latest Edition of WPViewPDF - April 2018.
Please also make sure you have copied the DLL wpdecodejp.dll - scanned documents often use JBIG2 encoding - this DLL implements it. ============================================== The new version is dated today. When I installed it, it did not fix the problem. I then copied the new wpdecodejp.dll into my program folder and that did the job. The weird PDF files now display correctly.

Further update to using MakeImage. Apparently I missed another detail. I was having problems with printing Amazon web invoices to PDF via the PrimoPDF printer driver. MakeImage displayed a splatter of characters with most characters missing. WPCubed just reminded me to make sure I had another DLL file in the same folder as my program. So, the complete set of required DLL files as I know them now is:
wp_type1ttf.dll (contains needed fonts) wpdecodejp.dll (decodes JBIG compression) wPDFViewMKIMG04.dll (main plug-in, though their help PDF claims it is named: wPDFView04.dll)
