How can I load and play an AVI video from stream?

no, AVI and video files can be loaded only from files.

That is sad news, I need to store them it a database.

What is the reason for this limitation?

Current way to create the DirectShow filter graph (using GraphBuilder::AddSourceFilter) accepts file names only. Anyway another way could be found in future, in case enough users asks for this feature.
