I have a working demo(attached).
in this demo, if you comment the line that sets the mode, append image works okay (I am adding testtif.tif, which has 11 images in it).
leaving the mode set, however, silently seems to bomb out. it just doesn't do 'anything'.
what I'm trying to do:
see all the images in the one record that is being added, whic has multiple images in the tif, vs all images belonging to a dataset.
