No I have not, and I have no response to this post or my one about the camera orientation on tablets. I posted on the forum after Nigel recommended that I did, and I have followed up with him via email and still not received any response.

Additionally, the whole thing works too slow on a tablet - In lower resolutions is shows 30 frames per second, but at the higher resolutions the ImageEn processing is too slow and the app effectively hangs (Compare this with the tablet camera app which works fine). To work around this I am discarding any sample except 5 per second.

Have you had any progress?

No I have not made any more progress with it.

On the tablet(s) in question here, I can only seem to do 640x480 so speed
doesn't seem bad.

On my dev laptop, I can do 1280x1024 and get 30 fps. This is an i5 / Nvidia
laptop.

Hi

It is likely to be a driver problem, i.e. the listed resolutions are the only ones available via Media foundation and DirectShow.

I update to 8.1 JUST in case it is a driver issue.. No changes.

I tried YAWCam and its able to do higher than 640x480 on both cameras.
It is just slow and choppy, and not very good.

So if it is a driver issue, Microsoft must have some kind of lock on it,
as the built in camera program seems to do just fine.

When Fab is back, offer still up for him to be able to VNC in and play
and see what he see's to possibly get a better answer on things.

Looking here, and looking in the comments,
"Intel Imaging Signal Processor 2300 Tablet"

A guy has the same problem with the same cameras.

I sent some email to OmniVision about the problems, have yet to hear
back from them on this issue.

Their tech support page was broke, PHP error when submitting, so
fired an email off to sales, to foward it to tech support.. Hoping
to hear something back.

Hi

We have found that MMF is not as robust as we would have hoped, many reasons for which are beyond our control.

However we are continuing to make improvements and you will see a number of them in the next release.

Alas, it is not practical for us to log onto individual user systems to investigate specific issues. We ensure that it works on our test systems with our test cameras, but we cannot guarantee that it will work in every scenario.

That is good to hear.

The cameras in use are extremely popular in current new tablets..

We have tons of customers with many brands/models that include
these cameras. They are built into them. So I can't just say, buy
a new camera. Not gonna work that way.

That is why I suggested being able to test out on the cameras we
have on some tablets. Using one or two cameras to test out
with does not cut it, if they are older, even more the case. You
need to try out on newer hardware to insure your stuff is up to
date and up to snuff with the latest and greatest.

Tablets are the "in" thing now, so I plead to put some more effort on tracking the issue with these model line of very popular cameras.

So am I to be SOL on this for awhile I take it? Until better
drivers or more documentation comes out for these cameras if ever.

Bringing back from the dead somewhat..

Just like Wadeauch reproted earlier in this thread.

Getting customers now with the IMX175 cameras with the same
problem. Will not see the fullest resolution. 8MP camera,
works great in Windows camera program but in ours only see
up to 1280x960...
